InteRDom, the internship and academic study program of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development(GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is pleased to invite university faculty and administration to participate in InteRDom PRO: Professional Externship for Professors and Acadministrators, an initiative that aims to introduce potential collaborators to the facilities, structure and services of the InteRDom program.

InteRDom PRO will take place on October 20-24, 2010 in conjunction with the InteRDom Annual Review.

InteRDom PRO will take place on October 20-24, 2010 in conjunction with the InteRDom Annual Review, an event for academics and professionals which seeks to elicit debate in the areas of management and human resource development.  The InteRDom PRO externship experience aspires to serve many of the same purposes as a student externship, except for faculty and administrators: to expose participants to the daily operations of the InteRDom program, to familiarize participants with new and different career possibilities for their students, to provide participants with an extensive network of new contacts and to open bridges for recruitment possibilities between the InteRDom program and the students that PRO participants serve.

It will be an opportunity for university professors and faculty to travel to the Dominican Republic, network with others from both American and international universities and companies  and to experience a day in the life of an InteRDom intern.

The agenda for the weekend includes:

  • Tours of FUNGLODE, the student residences and InteRDom’s partner university, Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE);
  • Presentations from FUNGLODE project managers on current projects and research currently being carried out at the Foundation;
  • Events and interactions with affiliated internship host organizations from the nonprofit, public and private sectors;
  • and optional cultural activities including a tour of the historic Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.

Applications to participate will be accepted until September 30, 2010, or until capacity is reached.

These activities will be conducted concurrently with the InteRDom Annual Review, which will bring together academics and professionals from the nonprofit and private sectors, both locally and internationally, to network and exchange ideas on the formation and implementation of effective internship programs. The title of the 2010 InteRDom Annual Review is “Internationalization, Employability and the Contribution of Universities to the Sustainable Development of Nations,” a topic which will be elaborated by local and international guest speakers.

To apply to participate in the program, please fill out the Application Form and email it tointerdom@interdominternships.org. Applications to participate will be accepted until September 30, 2010, or until capacity is reached.
