poster-la-montanaInteRDom, in collaboration with the Drexel University Spanish Club, would like to invite Drexel students, professors and community members to the screening of the Dominican film La Montaña (The Mountain), directed by Tabaré Blanchard and co-directed by Ivan Herrera, on Thursday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

La Montaña beautifully documents the adventure of the first Dominican expedition to reach the top of Mount Everest in Nepal in 2011. With stunning cinematography, powerful music and inspiring achievements, this documentary presents the contrast of the highest mountain in the world and the low lands of the Caribbean, as the three climbers surpass the difficult trek to the top. At the same time, three Dominican children, sons of fishermen, start their own challenge in climbing the highest mountain of their island: Pico Duarte. These parallel stories remind us that from the sea to the sky, everyone has a dream and their own mountain to climb.

Prior to screening the film, InteRDom representatives will speak about internship opportunities available through the InteRDom program, and current Drexel student and InteRDom alumnus Sean Coffey will give a short presentation about his internship experience in the Dominican Republic.

InteRDom thanks the members of the Drexel University Spanish Club for organizing and co-hosting this event. The Drexel Spanish Club provides many opportunities for all students interested in the Spanish language to enhance their conversational and comprehension skills outside the classroom setting.

InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
