For the second consecutive year, InteRDom representatives will attend the 2014 CIEE Annual Conference from November 21-22 in Baltimore, Maryland. The conference is hosted by a leader in the study abroad industry, the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), and this will be the third time InteRDom has participated in this leading conference on international education.

cieeBaltimoreRetina423x296This year’s conference themes are: “Breaking Barriers: Cost. Curriculum. Culture.,” which CIEE explains, saying: “Together we must forge solutions for addressing the critical barriers facing study abroad, which is to make study abroad more affordable; Integrate international perspectives into curriculum; Communicate the benefits of international education; and attract more students to study abroad.” These are very important topics to InteRDom, as it continues to keep up with the current study abroad trends and practices while developing and adapting to new ideas which will shape the program to become more accessible and attractive to the ever-evolving interests of college students.

Through this conference, InteRDom representatives will have the opportunity to network with other study abroad professionals and university program faculty and staff, to explore partnerships with other institutions and providers, and to build relationships and collaborate on new ideas.

The most enriching part of the conference will be the presentations, panel discussions and learning sessions that InteRDom representatives will attend, which will cover a range of topics from technical barriers, to local synergies in cinema, politics, and study abroad and increasing study abroad access for all. All of this information will be valuable to continue to innovate in order to provide the highest quality experience possible to future students.

The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and FUNGLODE is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
