InteRDom Internships in the Dominican Republic is pleased to announce the correspondents for the 2013 Correspondent Program, a communications program for students interested in enriching their InteRDom Internship experience and boosting their resumes through writing, social media and marketing.

There are five correspondents accepted into the program this year: Alexandria Rogers and Ikenna Okoro from University of Miami, Florida; Kimberly Sanchez from the University of Toledo, Ohio; Carlos Gonzalez from St. Peter’s University in New Jersey; and Giselle Deñó from Sciences Po in Paris, France.

InteRDom Anuncia su Programa de Corresponsales de Verano 2013You can find published material from the InteRDom Correspondents throughout the summer on the InteRDom blog.  Check back frequently to read about all of the rich learning and professional development opportunities these students are experiencing and that the Dominican Republic has to offer.

Now in its second year, the Correspondent Program provides an opportunity for students to write blog posts before, during and after their study, research or internship in the Dominican Republic to share their experiences with future students, professors, family members and friends of the program.  Once they have returned to their home institutions, InteRDom Correspondents turn into ambassadors of the InteRDom program and the Dominican Republic on their home campuses.

Correspondents gain valuable experience in marketing and public relations by serving as the liaisons on campus between the InteRDom program and their host institutions.  They are coached by the InteRDom marketing team on best practices and strategies to promote the Dominican Republic as a study, internship and research destination.  Participants also have the venue through which to improve their writing skills and to publish unique content.

The InteRDom blog provides a forum for former, current and future students, professors, employers, experts and other collaborators of the InteRDom program to express ideas on topics related to the areas in which the program works, including international education, global business practices, career development strategies, Dominican and Caribbean issues and cross-cultural awareness.  It also provides useful information for students and to inspire lively debate and increased interest in intellectual exchange and the development of Hispaniola.

InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
