The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), participated last Saturday in the Second Annual Dominican Students Conference at New York University. During the event, more than 400 students from across the United States became familiar with InteRDom and demonstrated interest in developing projects related to areas such as: migration, health care and international relations.

Bella Quisqueya, the Dominican Student Organization at NYU, organized this activity, which served as a point of reference for all Dominican students carrying-out undergraduate and graduate studies at academic institutions in the United States.

Students from academic institutions such as Boston University, Baruch College, Seton Hall University, Columbia University, Florida College, Hunter College, Yale University, Amherst College, Lesley College, La Salle University and Miami Dade College submitted resumes and letters of interest to members of the InteRDom team and displayed interest in collaborating with program projects related to: migration, health care, international relations, communications, education and business.

The event, the second of its kind in the United States – the first was celebrated at Yale University — sought to promote exchange initiatives amongst students and communities of Dominican residents in the Dominican Republic and in the United States. It also provided a space in which to recognize the work of Dominicans that have developed successful careers in the United States, the impact of their success on their communities of origin, and the influence of Dominican students on their colleges and universities.

InteRDom is the leading internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic that offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study, while taking courses and seminars at local universities.
