InteRDom is excited to announce a new internship opportunity open this fall for students interested in the field of education, in partnership with the Continental School, an innovative school in San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic. This prestigious school employs many international teachers, including InteRDom alumna and former InteRDom Correspondent, Alexandria Rogers, who will be returning to the Dominican Republic to teach at the school for the 2014-15 academic year. It also marks a milestone for the InteRDom program, as it is the first time that the program is able to offer an internship in a field other than tourism outside of Santo Domingo.

The Continental School’s vision is to be a leader in private education, open and participatory so as to promote comprehensive education and service to enhance the development of the region and the country. The mission of Continental School is to develop knowledgeable and trustworthy students in a setting that respects intellectual accomplishments, positive social, emotional and physical growth and effective communication skills in English and Spanish. Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2014 and the deadline to apply for this position is July 31, 2014. The placement is for the academic year, and includes housing provided by the Continental School. Undergraduate, graduate and gap year students are invited to apply.

InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
