After its participation in
InteRDom’s first HOT Summer Seminar
of 2009, “Doing Business in Latin
America,” the World Bank invited the
InteRDom students of Summer 2009 to
tour its Santo Domingo offices on
Monday, July 13th . The interns were
received by Alejandra de la Paz,
Public Information Associate, and
Roby Senderowitsch, Resident
Representative of the World Bank in
the Dominican Republic, who
encouraged the students to apply to
participate in different programs
and opportunities that the World
Bank offers.
Mr. Senderowitsch and Ms. de la Paz
also took the time to converse with
the students at length about their
questions and concerns about the
functioning of the World Bank at an
international level, as well as
about their individual research
projects and internships. They
provided each student individually
with valuable contact information
and resources in order to better
complete their research and
internship experience in the
Dominican Republic.
Afterward, Ms. de la Paz gave the
interns a tour of the office, where
they had the opportunity to meet
specialists from many different
World Bank projects in Santo
Domingo.
The visit was coordinated as part of
InteRDom’s commitment to further the
professional development and
academic success of the students on
the program, as well as to form
important connections with the
public and private work sector of
the Dominican Republic to raise
awareness about the importance of
internships.
InteRDom, an initiative of Global
Foundation for Democracy and
Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y
Desarrollo (FUNGLODE),
offers students the opportunity to
gain professional experience by
interning with Dominican
organizations and businesses related
to their field of study.
