InteRDom Interns Network with Dominican Counterparts at Pizza Night
Santo Domingo, July 9, 2009

On Thursday, June 11th InteRDom students participated in their first “get-together” of the summer, a pizza night planned with the student interns of Listin Diario’s “Journalist for a Year” program.

This get-together served as a means to accomplish part of the mission of the InteRDom program, to provide students with opportunities for networking and exchange with Dominican professionals and students in their field.  At the pizza night InteRDom students tasted real “Dominican” pizza at the Pizza House restaurant on Churchill Avenue, and they met the student interns of the Listin Diario, an important local newspaper.  The students helped one another to establish both social and professional networks and contacts necessary for research projects and the execution of their internship projects and goals.

The pizza night was part of a casual agenda of get-togethers that InteRDom organizes aside from its scheduled cultural excursions and trips.  The purpose of the get-togethers is to provide the students with the opportunity to catch-up with one another, talk about their experiences in the country and in their internships and to experience different aspects of the culture and city of Santo Domingo.

InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
