InteRDom Announces Fall 2009
Application Deadline Extension for

InteRDom
is forging a partnership with the
Dominican non-profit organization
Sur Futuro to offer students a wide
variety of internship opportunities
in the field of climate change,
environmental preservation and
sustainable agricultural development
in the southern region of the
Dominican Republic.
Some of the projects in which
students will have the opportunity
to participate include: carrying out
vulnerability and risk analyses in
the southern area of the country;
working with information from
specialized reports done by CATHALAC-AID
and UNEP-Oxford; establishing
environmental education programs in
the communities; implementing a
program to monitor the biological
and social indicators of the
southern area; working to identify
practices and activities in
strategic areas in the southern zone
that will serve to reduce emissions
and contribute to avoiding, reducing
and slowing down the impact of
climate change.
All of these projects seek to
promote the culture of governmental
and non-governmental social
responsibility and corporate
socio-environmental investment,
especially in the area of clean
technology and environmental
sustainability.
Because of these new and exciting
opportunities, the application
deadline for the fall semester has
been extended to Friday, July 3.

Requirements to Apply:
Applicants must possess a minimal
GPA of 2.9, have completed 60% of
their academic program, and have
taken 3 university-level Spanish
courses. Interested students should

InteRDom is the premier internship
and academic study program in the
Dominican Republic. It offers
international students the
opportunity to obtain professional
experience by interning with
Dominican organizations and
businesses related to their fields
of study, complemented by courses
and seminars at local universities.
Through the InteRDom Program, both
undergraduate and graduate students
have the opportunity to take a wide
variety of academic courses in
Spanish with other Dominican
students at the Universidad
Iberoamericana (UNIBE). This
presents an excellent opportunity
for students to further their
studies within a Spanish-speaking
context, permitting accelerated
growth in the area of language
acquisition and application.

language can also choose to take a
specialized intermediate course to
give their language skills an extra
boost.
