Americas in Trinidad and Tobago Washington, April 10, 2009
As a continuation of its global
outreach efforts, the internship
program InteRDom, an initiative of
Global Foundation for Democracy and
Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y
Desarrollo (FUNGLODE)
is participating in the “Fifth
Summit of Americas,” taking place in
Trinidad and Tobago.
The Summit is held every three to
four years, and brings together the
thirty four democratically elected
Heads of State and Government in the
Western Hemisphere to exchange ideas
and opinions on the political,
economic, social and security
challenges confronting the region.
At the Summit, InteRDom program
coordinator, Alicia Alonzo will have
an opportunity to present the
internship program and its impact on
American universities in a panel
that will form part of “Youth Forum
of the Americas,” scheduled to take
place April 14-16.
Ms. Alonzo will join fellow
panelists from The World Bank and
Parque del Emprendimiento, Business
Accelerator to discuss Business
Ethics and Youth Entrepreneurship.
During the Youth Forum, Alonzo will
be accompanied by former InteRDom
intern Edward Gonzalez-Acosta, who
will speak about his experience in
the Dominican Republic and how it
impacted his professional and
personal development.
InteRDom, established in 2005 by
GFDD and FUNGLODE, has become the
leading internship and academic
study program in the Dominican
Republic. It offers students the
opportunity to gain professional
experience by interning with
Dominican organizations and
businesses related to their field of
study.
