InteRDom Increases Baruch
College Students’ Connection with
the Dominican Republic New York, January 23, 2009
The internship program InteRDom,
an initiative of Global Foundation
for Democracy and Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y
Desarrollo (FUNGLODE),
is scheduled to participate in the
spring semester Study Abroad Fair at
Baruch College on February 19, 2009.
Through this event InteRDom seeks to
increase students’ awareness of the
vast internship and academic
opportunities available in the
Dominican Republic through the
Program in the area of business.
“The Office of International Affairs
at Baruch College is very interested
in strengthening ties with InteRDom.
They’re interested in fostering
greater exchange between the two
countries,” explained Program
Coordinator Alicia Alonzo. “Students
from Baruch,” expressed Alonzo,
“have an excellent profile. Their academic background in
business makes them well-suited for
many of the internships InteRDom
provides in the Dominican Republic.”
InteRDom will have a stand at the
fair where students will be able to
learn about the program, discover
the internship opportunities
available and learn more about the
Dominican organizations affiliated
with the program. The InteRDom team
will also be available to answer any
student questions.
The purpose of the Baruch College
Study Abroad Fair is to encourage
students to explore the world
through study and work opportunities
abroad. With this purpose in mind,
InteRDom’s stand will target
students interested in Latin
American and the Caribbean Region
that express a desire to obtain
professional experience while
completing their studies.
Baruch students that attend the fair
will have the opportunity to turn in
their resumes and project proposals
they are interested in developing
during the 2009 summer and/or fall
semesters.
