InteRDom Internships in the Dominican Republic is a program of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE). It fulfills GFDD and FUNGLODE’s mission to conduct research and foster exchange in the areas crucial for the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic, Caribbean and Latin America.

Mandy Sciacchitano, General Manager

Responsibilities: As the general coordinator of the InteRDom program, Mandy is involved in every aspect of its execution. She often helps with the marketing and admissions process, as well as internship planning and the training of affiliate organizations. Her principal responsibility is conceiving new programs and offering support to the staff so that they can provide services and solutions to all participants and affiliated organizations and universities.
Education: Mandy holds a dual bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in Global Management and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Sustainability Strategies at the New School in New York.

Reyna Rodríguez, Corporate Relations and Internship Coordinator empresa@interdominternships.org
Responsibilities: Reyna’s position as Corporate Relations and Internship Coordinator makes her the liaison between the student and employer for the duration of each student’s time with InteRDom. She establishes and cultivates relationships with an ever-growing network of organizations and companies throughout the Dominican Republic and sets up student internship placement and learning plan contracts. She also contributes to the training and formation of new internship coordinators around the country.
Education: Reyna did her undergraduate studies in Organizational Psychology at Pontificia Universidad Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and she received an Associate’s degree in Leadership and Management from Intelecta in Santo Domingo. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Relations at Instituto Global de Altos Estudios en Ciencias Sociales (IGlobal).

Autumn Brookmire, Marketing and Admissions Coordinator

Responsibilities: Autumn’s main function is to establish relationships with universities and student groups, and to distribute promotional materials and publications to schools across the United States. She guides each student through the admissions process and remains a key contact for students from the initial application through orientation. She also manages much of InteRDom’s English-language publications, informational materials and web content.
Education: Autumn holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating and working professionally for a few years, she spent one year in San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina as part of a cross-cultural exchange for personal and professional growth, and to improve her Spanish language skills.

Loriel Sánchez, Student Life and Cultural Activities Coordinator

 Responsibilities: As the Student Life Coordinator, Loriel brings great perspective to students on how the culture of higher education functions in the Dominican Republic. Loriel organizes activities, including casual get-togethers and cultural excursions, and she is in charge of maintaining the InteRDom residences and organizing housing, meals and activities for InteRDom groups and guests.
Education: Loriel is currently a senior year student of International Relations in the Universidad Catolica Santo Domingo (USCD).
