Many exciting and diverse opportunities exist in the field of communications and journalism in the Dominican Republic. The country publishes over 1,000 newspapers and transmits over 300 radio programs and 40 radio stations. Through InteRDom, students are able to intern with some of the most prominent public and private media affiliates in the Dominican Republic. 

Internships are available in the areas of: local, national and international journalism; information management; research; print and online publications; radio; television; public relations; website development; and communications and marketing strategies. Students interested in carrying out internships in this area should possess native or bilingual proficiency in Spanish.

InteRDom is part of the program “Periodista por año” (“Journalist for a Year”) which allows students of communications to put to test their capacities to effectively communicate ideas and stories in writing in Spanish. “Periodista por año” admits students specializing in communications, media and related fields. The media affiliate that runs the program reaches both a Dominican readership and a Hispanic-Caribbean readership. This unique and exciting internship opportunity allows students to become involved with the most important social, political, economic and cultural issues impacting the region.
